Polyaluminum Chloride (PAC)
Basic Information
Name: Polyaluminum Chloride
Other names: PAC; polyaluminium chloride; aluminium chlorohydrate
Molecular formula: [Al2(OH)nCl6-n]m (polymeric; n = 1–5, m ≤ 10)
Molecular weight: Polymer (no fixed molecular weight)
CAS number: 1327-41-9

2.Physical and Chemical Properties
- Appearance: Yellow to reddish-brown liquid (liquid grades); yellow powder (solid grades)
- Solubility: Soluble in water
- Density: Approximately 1.12–1.19 g/cm³ (liquid, depending on Al2O3 content)
- pH (1% aqueous solution): 3.5 – 5.0
- Stability: Stable; slightly corrosive
3.Main Functions and Applications (What are its uses?)
- Water treatment (core application): As an inorganic polymeric coagulant, PAC is widely used for the coagulation treatment of drinking water, industrial wastewater and municipal sewage. Through charge neutralization and adsorption bridging, it removes suspended solids, colloids, color, COD and phosphorus.
- Drinking water purification: The primary coagulant for drinking water treatment, featuring low dosage, large and dense flocs, fast settling and low residual aluminum.
- Industrial wastewater: Used for decolorization, phosphorus removal and turbidity reduction in dyeing, papermaking, electroplating and chemical wastewater.
- Municipal sewage: Used for municipal sewage and sludge treatment.
- Available grades (different contents): Liquid grades (Al2O3 ≥ 6% / 8% / 10%) and solid grades (Al2O3 ≥ 24% / 28% / 30%), with adjustable basicity of 40–90% - covering all water qualities and dosing methods.
- Advantages: Superior to conventional aluminum salts - wide applicable pH range, larger and denser flocs, faster settling, and lower corrosivity than aluminum sulfate.
4.A Benchmark-Level Industrial Masterpiece - A Meticulously Crafted "Efficient Flocculation" Coagulant!
Multiple grades with Al2O3 content from 6% to 30% for every application. Optimal basicity 40–90% ensures superior coagulation performance.
